The Regency is recognized as the third largest city in East Java with total population of 2,329,929 people in 2010. The Regency of Jember has an area of 3,293.34 km² and bordered to Lumajang regency in the west, Banyuwangi regency in the east, Probolinggo, Bondowoso and Situbondo in the north, and Indian Ocean in the south. The Regency of Jember administratively divided into 31 districts. The Regency is headed by a Regent and currently held by MZA Djalal.
